Katie & James’ Wedding Film // Balbirnie House, Fife

Katie & James were married at the fantastic Balbirnie House Hotel in Fife. James was nervous about giving his speech, but it was one of the finest I’ve ever heard. Jump into their film below;

Tell us about your day; what were your expectations, how did you feel, how did it all go?

The only way we can describe it is absolutely perfect. We didn’t really know what to expect and it all still feels like a bit of a dream. The weather was beautiful and it was so lovely to be surrounded by all our family and friends. We were very lucky and we will treasure it forever.

How did you meet and become engaged?

We met through a mutual friend, John, who Katie was living with at the time. We started chatting and clicked straight away and that was that!

James proposed 18 months later on top of the Sussex Downs in his hometown, Eastbourne. Katie almost lost the ring immediately by shaking her hand to ‘see if it fit’. This did not go down well!!

Where did you find inspiration for your wedding?

Katie spend months procrastinating on Pinterest. James did what he was told!

Why did you choose Balbirnie House?

Katie’s mum suggested we view Balbirnie House. It was the first and only venue we visited, as we fell in love with it immediately.

Why did to choose to have a video of your day?

Katie always knew she wanted a videographer to record her day. James was initially unsure, but after seeing Rob’s video of another wedding, he was quickly won over.

What was your favourite part in your highlight film?

Katie: All of it. We just watched it back again now and I still can’t choose my favourite part. It’s absolutely perfect.

James: The way the words from John’s reading at the beginning is matched with the imagery of the day.

Any tips for future Brides and Grooms?

Katie: The days leading up to the wedding are the most stressful. Try your best to delegate as much as you can so that you can enjoy the time leading up to the day. A piece of advice my friend gave me was to take a few moments throughout the day to take everything in. It goes by so quickly so it is important to enjoy those moments that aren’t so hectic.

James: You remember more details than you think. You spend a lot of the day on the formalities, make sure the evening is for the two of you to let your hair down and enjoy yourself.

Any unexpected moments?

Katie: James whipped out a Celtic shirt with my name on in half way through his wedding speech to give to me… It wasn’t well received by my family of Liverpool fans…! He also surprised me with a beautiful video he made including all my closest family and friends which was incredibly special.

James: Katie surprised me with a personal video from Danny Wallace, an author and my personal hero. His book Yes Man is partly how we met, so it was a really thoughtful surprise.

Anything else you want to chat about?

If you’re on the fence about getting a videographer, we really can’t recommend it enough (We promise Rob hasn’t paid us to say this).
