Akira & Misaki // Scottish Destination Wedding // Dalhousie Castle

Akira & Misaki decided to travel to Scotland for their wedding, bringing 20 of their friends and family from their native Japan and all over the world, to celebrate at Dalhousie Castle near Edinburgh.

Akira is something of an athlete (well, actually, he really is an athlete with a PB of 47 seconds for the 400m and was ranked 572nd in the world for the 110m hurdles in 2010). He seems to have cycled all over the world, for fun. It was on one of these trips that he fell in love with Scotland and the friendly nature of people here – “People in Scotland always thank the bus driver, that never happens in Japan”. In suspect it might be  more a case of everyone he meets being inspired by his infectious good nature. As Misaki says in her speech; “he is always laughing”.

The two of them are the most ridiculously lovely and in love couple… and, they sprung a wee surprise announcement on their guests during the drinks reception straight after the ceremony; Misaki is pregnant. BOOM! Mic drop for the day.

And what heroes they were too, suffering in the chill winds of Yellowcraig beach to get the epic shots that the weather delivered. That had to be some of the best light I’ve ever shot in. Ryan (Ryan White Photography) and I were muttering all sorts of incoherent gibberish in response to that golden goodness, which amused Lina (also part of the photography team) somewhat.

The day ended with Akira taking a team selfie in the woods, which is one for the professional scrap book for sure.If you’d like us to help capture your day, drop us a line today.
